What to Expect
Mechanicsville is the area to the west of downtown between Scott Street and the Ottawa River. Its western border is Parkdale Avenue, and its eastern boundary is Bayview. The area is mostly residential, with 1900s era homes on grid streets. Along Parkdale Avenue, there are several newer high-rise apartment buildings. The east is an older industrial area.
The demographic in this area is mixed, with older people who are homeowners and younger people who rent in the area.
China Town on Somerset street is easily accessible from here. Also, Wellington street is nearby where you can find many shops or leisure spots. Wellington is the main street near the larger neighbourhood of Hintonburg. Tall apartment buildings create a wall along the western and northern sections of the neighbourhood.
